The Little Red Bastard - Design and Paint 2/4

One of the most fun aspects of upcycling old bicycles is removing the paint to see what the metal underneath looks like. The nicer the steel, the more beautiful it is raw. I was going for a clean and simple look for the LRB project and decided to go with white. Nothing looks cleaner than a clean white bicycle. Since this build wasn’t going to be used every day, I thought white would work. I wanted just a bit of flair and thought of using string to create a random stripe pattern on the seat and chain stays. I really like the effect and intentionally used “furry” string so the lines wouldn’t be too precise—more organic.
